Moutushi Sengupta is a senior management professional with more than 24 years of experience in the development and corporate sector. As a part of the MacArthur Foundation, her current role as the India Director is to provide strategic leadership to the Foundation’s work in India. She leads in identifying and developing partnerships and programs for the Foundation. She also leads Leadership Group at SAWIE.
At MacArthur Foundation, She oversees grant making in India, including grants for the Population and Reproductive Health area, focusing on reducing maternal mortality and morbidity and improving young people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights; grants for the Human Rights and Justice area, focusing grant making in the International Peace and Security area, related to the Asia Security Initiative; for the Conservation and Sustainable Development area; and other special grant making initiatives.
She has worked across a range of sectors and geographies to develop strategies; ensure proper design, implementation and evaluation of development interventions. experience in coordinating and negotiating with actors in development, including senior bureaucrats, political leaders, development networks and donors, such as DFID, UN institutions and the World Bank. Her particular strength lies in leading and managing large, diverse teams and delivering results through effective team work.
Before joining the development sector, Moutushi spent over five years in the corporate sector in finance, accounts and developing management information systems (MIS).
She is a gold medallist in her perusal of MBA in Finance, Marketing and Human Resource from Punjab University. In 2002, she pursued M.Sc in Applied Environmental Economics, Water Resource Management, Environmental Law and Natural Resource Economics.
