Adwait Joshi - South Asia Women in Energy (Sawie)

Adwait leads CLEAN (Clean Energy Access Network), a non-profit organisation committed to support, unify and grow impact driven clean energy enterprises in India. With a network of 220+ social enterprises across India, it is considered as the industry body for Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) sector of the country.

At CLEAN, his primary focus is on rural and underprivileged communities where reliable, affordable and clean energy plays a unique role in accelerating social, environmental and economic development. CLEAN has contributed to development and influencing policies for the sector, bridged access to finance for its members, facilitated technology innovations, assisted its members in accessing markets and built capacity of enterprises through trainings and workshops.

CLEAN was setup as a program in 2014, by its charter members which include The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), GIZ India, SELCO Foundation, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, WWF India, UN Foundation, Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), Ashden India Renewable Energy Collective, The Climate Group (TCG), Indian Renewable Energy Federation (IREF) and The Nand and Jeet Khemka Foundation.

Prior to CLEAN, Adwait was Associate Director at Samhita Social Ventures. He was instrumental in the growth of the organization from its start-up stage to the position of the trusted and leading CSR Consulting firm in India. He led a team to secure grants and investments, build synergistic relationships with companies, philanthropic foundations, social organizations and bi-lateral / multi-lateral agencies.

Prior to Samhita, Adwait started with co-founding a waste-to-energy startup, CH Four, which grew to $200,000 revenue in just 3 years. For over a decade now, Adwait has delivered in setting up new ventures, organizational development, and market development through strategic leadership roles. Problem-solving for sustainable solutions in society and for climate change has been at the core of Adwait’s professional journey.
